Mrs. Carolyn Estelle Douglas Norman, 69, of 1905 Park Drive, Mount Airy, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 23, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Norman was born June 12, 1946, in Forsyth County, the daughter of the late William Gorrell and Ruth Meyers Douglas. Carolyn was self-employed as a maintenance lawn care operator. She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Dale Dixon, Doug and Tammy Dixon, and Dennis and Jessie Dixon, all of Mount Airy; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Terry Stevens of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Jessica Dixon, Tara Davis, Adam Jones, Tennessee Pike, Morgan Dixon, and Brancey Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Braydan Fernandini, Bryson Parker, Brody Parker, William Pike, Connor Pike, L.J. Pike, and Davy Jones; three sisters, Linda, Kathy, and Janet; a brother, Hillary; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ray Norman; a daughter-in-law, Frankie Dixon; and two brothers, Larry Douglas and G.W. Douglas. There will be no formal services. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy will be in charge of the cremation. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the Palliative Care Staff at Forsyth Medical Center.
