Carrie Loretta McCormick Thacker

Mrs. Carrie Loretta McCormick Thacker, 85, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014, at her granddaughter's home in Cana, VA. Mrs. Thacker was born November 16, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Wade B. and Ora Creed McCormick. She was the co-owner, along with her husband, Glenn, of Riverdale Electronics and was a member of Mount Airy Friends Meeting. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Dennis Leedy of Winston-Salem and Becky and Paul Casey of Jacksonville, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cindy Thacker of Mount Airy; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Jay Simile of Atlanta, GA, Jenna Morse of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Jonathan Thacker of Mount Airy, Halley Headrick, Brianna Casey, and Ryan Casey, all of Jacksonville, FL, Emily Armstrong of Charlotte, and Lauren and Zack Utt of Cana, VA; six great-grandchildren, Alexander Morse, Jayden Simile, Jordyn Simile, Logan Jones, Kirk Jones, and Eli Jones; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Diane Barnett. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thacker was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Allen Thacker; a sister, Norma McCormick Crane; and a brother, Donald George McCormick. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 3:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery, with Rev. Tony Hayworth officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cindy Thacker, 586 Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy.
