Carroll “Woofie” Elwood Bowman January 24, 1975 - February 25, 2024.
Carroll “Woofie” Elwood Bowman, beloved father, grandfather, sibling, son, and friend, passed away on February 25, 2024, at the age of 49. Carroll was known for his larger-than-life personality, an infectious laughter, and for being a genuinely kind man. Jovial and outgoing, Carroll always had a smile on his face and a laugh in his belly. He was a humble and kind man who led a simple life. His love, however, was anything but simple. He loved deeply, forgave quickly, and gave the best hugs. Born on January 24, 1975, Carroll enjoyed the outdoors and working with his hands from a young age. Whether he was exploring the beauty of nature or tinkering with an ever-ongoing variety of personal projects, he loved being outside and found little more satisfying than good, old-fashioned hands-on work. Carroll possessed a remarkable ability to fix anything, whether it be electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or otherwise; he was truly gifted with his hands. Carroll was preceded in death by his mother, Glenda Diane Bowman. Left to cherish his memory are his three children and two sons-in-law, Chase Sumner and Kayla Bowman, Charles “Wes” and Kelsey Barr, and Carroll Elwood Bowman Jr., grandchildren, Isabella Sumner, Bently Sumner, and Saylor Barr, and his dear father, Edgar Lee Bowman. He is also survived by his siblings, Timothy Bowman, Edward Bowman, his twin, Darrell Bowman, and April Bowman, along with a multitude of nieces and nephews whom he loved as if they were his own. A celebration of Carroll’s life will be held at Salvation Baptist Church of Mount Airy, NC on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 11 AM, officiated by Pastor Jerry King. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11AM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family during this time of remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist in offsetting funeral expenses.
