Carson Wayne Martin

Mr. Carson Wayne “Swifty” Martin, age 86 of Patrick Springs, passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson North Carolina on Friday, October 2, 2026. He was born in Martinsville on July 31, 1940, to the late Caney Martin and Dorothy Rakes Martin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Lula Ware Handy Martin; a grandson, Parker Martin; a brother, Leon Martin; and a sister, Loriene Martin. He was known as the “Spotlight King” due to his ability for dressing up cars and trucks. He enjoyed fixing up older vehicles and attending car shows every weekend. He once won an award at a car show when he didn’t even enter his vehicle. He loved his family and was a devoted husband.

Left to cherish the memories of Carson are one son, Roger Martin (Monica) of Walnut Cove, NC; two grandsons, Austin Martin (Sarah) and Tyler Hazelwood; two great-grandchildren, Aina Martin and Rena Martin; an aunt, Frances Martin; a caregiver, Sue Pack; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 5, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Jeff Pendleton officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
