Cecil Gwynn

Mr. Cecil "Whitey" Gwynn, 65, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Gwynn was born May 25, 1944, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Elsie Gwynn. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Gwynn is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Haynes Gwyn; a daughter, Betty Jean Gwyn of Mount Airy; a son, James Cecil Gwynn of Mount Airy; and four grandchildren, Cindy Dawn Gwyn, Christopher Lee Gwyn, James Cecil Gwyn, and Austin Lee Gwyn. In addition to his mother, Mr. Gwynn was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee Gwyn. The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 29, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ed Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the McMillian-Haynes Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
