Mr. Charles “Spanky” David Barnes, age 55 of Ferrum, VA passed away peacefully in Roanoke, VA on Sunday, June 28, 2026. He was born in Martinsville, VA on September 29, 1970, to Philip Carl Barnes, Sr. and Esther Elaine Scott.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, and riding four-wheelers. He worked hard his entire life taking care of his family. He was always working on cars. He was a man of his word until the day he died.

In addition to his parents he is survived by one son, Austin David Barnes of Ferrum, VA; two sisters, Carlana Susan Barnes and Inga Gold; two brothers, Philip Barnes, Jr. and Anthony “Tony” Brian Barnes, nieces and nephews, Phil Barnes, Heather Barnes, Olivia Barnes, Brittany Barnes, Evan Barnes, and Ashleigh Dillon.
