Charles Britt Berrier, Sr.

Mr. Charles Britt Berrier, Sr., 74, of Cana, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday night, July 16, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Berrier was born July 30, 1950, in Surry County, to the late Brawdis Jefferson and Annie Hazel Leonard Berrier. Charles was a graduate of Carroll County High School and went on to become a successful businessman, operating his own trucking company and engaging in the buying and selling of produce. A man of strong faith, Charles was a dedicated member of Fancy Gap Baptist Church for 29 years, where he served as assistant choir director for many years. Later, he joined Westview Baptist Church in Cana, VA, continuing his role as assistant choir director. He deeply loved the Lord and found great joy in praising Him through song. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 52 years, Sheila Peele Berrier; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Britt “Chuck” Berrier, Jr. and April Eaton Berrier; three grandchildren, Allison Gail Bailey, Madison Grace Berrier, and William Britt Berrier; a sister-in-law, Clara Smith Berrier; two nephews and their wives, Kenneth and Lori Berrier and Barry and Tyra Berrier; a niece and her husband, Rhonda and Paul Brindle; many dear friends, including Angel Eaton, Charles Hawks, Kevin Semones, Mike Jones, and Diane McCarthy; and two fur babies, Pebbles and Tipsy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Berrier was preceded in death by a son, William Jefferson Berrier; a brother, J.C. Berrier; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Nemo Peele. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with William Britt Berrier, the Rev. James Collins, and the Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in the Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
