Charles H. Hall, Jr.

Charles H. Hall, Jr., 88, of Mount Airy, went to be with his Savior on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.  Mr. Hall was born December 31, 1933, in Surry County, to Charles H. Hall, Sr. and Delia Claire Shelton Hall.  Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Patton Hall; a son, Charles H. Hall, III (Chuck); a daughter and son-in-law, Cydna Anne and Derrick Clifton; seven grandchildren, Sidney Hall, Aubrey Hall, Whitney Hall, Redding Vaughn, Harry Vaughn, Sydney Clifton, and Morgan Clifton; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Cook; a brother-in-law, Tom Patton (Rosalie); several nieces and nephews; and his special friends from the church and Food Lion.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Hall was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Gray Jones; and a brother, Michael Wade Hall.  Mr. Hall served in the United States Army from 1953-1955.  He engineered a train from Pusan to Seoul, Korea, for eighteen months.  After being honorably discharged from the Army, he served as Assistant Fire Chief in Mount Airy and worked at F. Rees Clothing for eight years before starting his own business, Steam World, in 1970.  He worked there until retirement.  He attended Grace Moravian Church his entire life.  He served on the Board of Elders, the Board of Trustees, served as Sacristan and President of Men's Brotherhood.  A service will be held at Grace Moravian Church on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM.  The Reverend Bob Peterson and the Reverend Robert Dean Wolfe will officiate the service.  The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Northern Regional ICU staff and the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Grace Moravian Church, 1401 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017.  Mr. Hall’s arrangements are entrusted with Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy.
