Charles Douglas Johnson

Mr. Charles Douglas Johnson, 71, of Mount Airy, passed away early Saturday morning, August 3, 2024, at Colonial Care Home. Mr. Johnson was born November 15, 1952, in Surry County, one of five children born to Bessie Seal Johnson and the late Greer Charles Johnson. Doug grew up in the Red Brush community and graduated from North Surry High School. Following his graduation, he served our country in the United States Army for three years (1973-1976). He farmed for many years of his life, and he also worked in construction for several years. Doug is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Daryll Douglass and Betsy Johnson, Matthew Douglas and Lauren Johnson, and Jason Ray Johnson; several grandchildren; his mother, Bessie Seal Johnson; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Buddy Edwards; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Kenneth Johnson, Dale and Delores Johnson, and Blaine and Cathy Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held for his family at Community Baptist Church. No formal visitation will be held. At a later date, a private inurnment will be held at Surry Veterans Cemetery. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
