Charles Wade Martin

Mr. Charles Wade Martin, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away early Monday morning, August 7, 2023, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Martin was born May 9, 1942, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Glen Wise and Ruby Ethelene Hall Martin.  Charles served our country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Kustom Craft Woodworks and was a longtime and faithful member of Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hilda Gaye Moorefield Martin of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Bobby Hubbard of Mount Airy; a granddaughter, Sydney Martin of Mount Airy; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Shirley and the Rev. Buford Jessup of Mount Airy and Ruth Allen of King; a brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Ann Martin of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Willie Allen; a niece, Jenny Martin; and a nephew, Todd Jessup.  The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tony Goins, Dr. Tracy C. Jessup, and Chaplain Trent Jessup officiating.  At the conclusion of the service, military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  A private interment will follow in the Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yokefellow Ministry, 461 North South Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or Helping Hands Foundation of Surry, P.O. Box 1722, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
