Charles Calvin Reece

Mr. Charles Calvin Reece, 86, of Claremont, passed away Sunday evening, December 28, 2014, at Sherrills Ford Hospice House. Mr. Reece was born March 23, 1928, in Surry County, the son of the late David Lee and Janie Marsh Reece. Calvin retired as a plumber from Shelton Plumbing Company and was a member of Dayspring Baptist Chapel. He is survived by three sons, Ricky Reece of Newton, Bobby Reynolds of Taylorsville, and Charles “Junior” Wood of Catawba; a stepson, Sammy Wood; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two stepdaughters, Judy Meredith and Patsy Benfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reece was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Wood Reece; four sisters, Elsie Childress, Faye Reynolds, Ocie McHone, and Ethel Hayes; and four brothers, Gilmer Reece, Joseph Howard “Red” Reece, Perry Reece, and Dewey John Reece. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Roger Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
