Charlie Monroe Thomas

Mr. Charlie Monroe Thomas, 66, of 1940 Wards Gap Road, Cana, VA, passed away early Friday morning, August 12, 2011, at Laurel Meadows Nursing Center in Laurel Fork, VA. Mr. Thomas was born March 12, 1945, in Carroll County, VA, the third child born to the late Charlie Roe and Sarah Jane Ayers Thomas. He worked as an inspector at Proctor-Silex Inc. for many years. He is survived by four sisters and brothers-in-law, Oma and Glenn Gray and Gert and Bob Collins, all of Ararat, VA, Alice and Bub Ayers of Cana, VA, and Pat and Robert Smith of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Louise Thomas of Ararat, VA; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Emmett Crotts officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
