Chief Master Sergeant, Retired, Garry Dean Pratt, age 56, of Lincolnton, entered Heavens Gates on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, surrounded by his loving family. Chief Master Sergeant Pratt was born in Surry County on October 14, 1958 to the late Clayton and Mabel Haynes Pratt. He was retired from the United States Air Force with thirty years of dedicated service and was the Commander of the VFW Post 1706. He was a graduate of the first ROTC Class of Surry Central High School in 1976, and later taught the Jr. ROTC at Lincolnton High School. Survivors include his sons, Christopher Dean Pratt of Lincolnton and Joshua Clay Pratt of Hurlbert Field Air Force Base, Pensacola, FL; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Gilmer Key of Ararat and Gail and Richard Semones of Danville, VA.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Paula Pratt of Dobson and Ricky and Lynn Pratt of Ararat. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday January 2, 2015 at Rock Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Jack Moody, the Rev. Jeff Moody and the Rev. Lee Johnson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Seymore Johnson Air Force Base Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard Honor Gurad. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until time of the service and other times at the home of his brother, Ricky Pratt 288 Tom Jones Road Ararat, NC 27007. In his memory, it is the desire of the family to make memorial contributions to the Surry Central High School Jr. ROTC, c/o Jerry Pratt 219 Windsor Park Drive Dobson, NC 27017 or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Road Dobson, NC.
