Clate F Huffman

Clate F. Huffman of Lexington, NC died June 14, 2015. He was born in Surry County, son of Dan F. and Callie V. Haymore Huffman. A graduate of White Plains High School, Elon University with a degree in Social Science and Education and additional degrees at UNC Chapel Hill. He taught at Davis Townsend and Central Davidson High Schools and retired as Associate Superintendent of the Davidson County School for over 30 years of service. He is survived by a sister, Alene Bowman of Mt Airy, brother Gilbert and wife, Mellie Huffman of Mt Airy, brother, Ralph and wife, Peggy Huffman of Whiteville, NC along with several nieces and nephews. Special friends included Darla Hardy of Oak Island, Robert Allmer, Max and Cathy Cole, and Carolyn Briggs, Michael and Marie Tesh, all of the Lexington, NC area. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clarence Huffman, a sister and brother-in-law, Coleen and E. Gray Dollyhigh, a brother and sister-in-law, Rex Huffman and Neil Huffman Martin, a brother-in-law, John Bowman, a nephew, Roger Bowman, niece, Isa Dollyhigh and husband, Jorge Guerra. There will be a grave side service at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery on Tuesday June 16th at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.
