Claude Dean Shinault

Mr. Claude Dean Shinault, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Shinault was born November 18, 1921, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Jake and Irene Edwards Shinault. He was a retired farmer and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Glenwood Phillips of the home and Betty and James Johnson of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Paulette Shinault of Mount Airy; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a special great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Pearl Bowen of Sparta; a special niece, Madelyn Murphy; a special nephew, James Wilson; and a special caregiver, Jean Edwards. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shinault was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Senter Shinault; two sisters, Ritus Beck and Hazel Hair; a half-sister, Alice Wilson; and a brother, Boyd Shinault. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Tabernacle Cemetery, with the Rev. Joey Hall officiating.
