Mrs. Claudia Stevens Hicks, age 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday evening May 3, 2024, at Central Continuing Care.  Mrs. Hicks was born May 13, 1932, to the late Edd and Annie Stevens.   She was a loving wife, mother, and friend, she will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Ms. Hicks was a faithful member of Flat Rock Baptist for many years, as long as her health permitted.  Mrs. Hicks is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Sherrie Hicks Jessup and Mitch, Tammie Hicks Hattey; her cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Kalyn Karpenko and Ken, Ryne Jessup, Olivia Edwards and Cody, Baylor Brinkley, Emily Simmons, and Ronnie Thomas; special great grandchildren, Jack Karpenko, Willow Mae Edwards, Conner Simmons, and Ava Simmons.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband of many years, John William Hicks; daughter, Robin Denise Hicks Owens; two sisters, Joyce Ann Stevens, Vernell Stevens; brother, Edward Stevens, her special fur-baby, Stella.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, at 2 PM, at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Rusty Reed officiating.  There will be no formal visitation held at the funeral home.   Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor’s choice.  Moody’s of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Hicks family.
