Cledus "Marie" Goad Guynn

Mrs. Cledus “Marie” Goad Guynn, 86, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Twelve Oaks Assisted Living Facility. Mrs. Guynn was born September 11, 1929, in Floyd County, VA, to the late Walker and Lula Goad. Marie retired from Spencer’s Inc. and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by a son, Joseph Guynn of Cana, VA; two daughters-in-law, Carolyn Guynn of Mount Airy and Debbie Guynn of Cana, VA; three grandchildren, John Boy Guynn and Timothy Guynn, both of Cana, VA, and Davie Guynn of Winston-Salem; eight great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Effie and Cecil Montgomery of Montgomery County, VA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Guynn was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Guynn; a daughter, Mary Guynn; two sons, Randy Guynn and Gary Guynn; a daughter-in-law, Joan Guynn; a grandson, Richard Guynn; and six brothers, Jessie Goad, Print Goad, Mossie Goad, Bill Goad, Leonard Goad, and Webb Goad. A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 17, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cana, VA, with the Rev. Johnny Easter officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
