Obituary

Mr. Clyde Wayne Bowman, Sr., age 81 of Ararat, Virginia, entered into eternal rest early on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bowman was born on November 4, 1944, in Patrick County to the late Perry and Mary Alice Harold Bowman. Known to all as Clyde, Sr.; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a faithful member of Doe Run Baptist Church while his health allowed. Additionally, Clyde, Sr., spent many years working for Southern States where he met many friends and fellow farmers. While he farmed in many different capacities, his love was raising and trading cattle. He was well-known in the Ararat community as a farmer and neighbor that was always willing to help others. He was very quick-witted and was always pleasant to be around. Clyde, Sr., will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Angelena D’Amico Bowman; a daughter and son-in-law, Lori Bowman Easter and Joseph; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde Wayne Bowman, Jr. and Terri; three grandchildren, Maggie Easter and boyfriend, Aubery Tucker, Josiah Easter, Abby Bowman Pell and Jonathan; two great grandchildren, Walker Pell, Sutton Pell; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by five sisters, Clara Etta Bowman Stanley, Effie Lee Bowman Sawyers, Edith Lois Bowman Sawyers, Catherine Elaine Bowman Draughn, Lannie Theresa Bownan Stanley; and five brothers, Marvin Cicero Bowman, Glen Martin Bowman, Jobill “Jo” Nelson Bowman, Malcolm Perry “Red” Bowman, and Harry Jospeh Bowman. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat, Virginia with Reverend Terry Vaughan officiating. No formal visitation will be held at this time. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for passionate care provided to Mr. Bowman as well as the folks at Patrick County Alzheimer’s Group in Stuart, Virginia.
