Colby Allen Cruise

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Colby Allen Cruise, age 19, of Dobson, who left us far too soon in the early hours of June 15, 2025. Colby was born on December 31, 2005, in Winston-Salem, NC, and was the oldest of four children born to Alaina and Jonathan Cruise. His vibrant spirit, loving nature, and zest for life touched all who knew him.

A true outdoorsman, Colby found joy in the beauty of nature. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or most especially, duck hunting, he reveled in the great outdoors. But above all, Colby had a heart full of love for people. His friendships were deep and countless, and he had an incredible ability to make everyone feel like a cherished friend. Colby was always the one to lend a helping hand, and it was this desire to care for others that led him to pursue a career in healthcare. His passion for helping people led him to study kinesiology at Campbell University, where he had just completed his freshman year. He dreamed of one day becoming a physician's assistant, eager to continue making a difference in the lives of others.

Colby was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity at Campbell University. Though his time there was short, his impact was immediate and lasting. His infectious smile, generous spirit, and the ability to bring joy to any room made him the life of every gathering. His family and friends will forever remember him as someone who lit up the world with his presence.

A man of deep faith, Colby was saved at an early age and maintained a strong relationship with Jesus throughout his life. He was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church, where he found peace and purpose in his relationship with the Lord. His unwavering faith was evident in everything he did, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Colby was the pride and joy of his family. His loss leaves an irreplaceable void, but his memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love that will continue to surround those he touched. He is survived by his adoring parents, Alaina and Jonathan Cruise; his siblings, Cameron Cruise, Caleb Cruise, and Cashton Cruise; his maternal grandparents, Pat and Joe Hunsucker; his paternal grandparents, Melinda and Brent Wall; aunts and uncles, Matthew and Tara Cruise, Greg and Kristy Hunsucker, Adam and Michelle Wall, Kendall and Ellie Carter and Emily and Nathan Snow; cousins, Drake Cruise, Evan Wall, Stella Wall, Madison Hunsucker, Adrian Hunsucker, Brady Johnson, Eli Snow, Emma Gentry, Lillie Snow and Cole Snow; and many dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. Colby was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Allen Cruise.

A service of worship and celebration of Colby’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church, with Dr. David Trump officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Colby’s memory by supporting the Colby A.
