Constance Gwaltney Needham

Mrs. Constance “Connie” Gwaltney Needham, 85, of Pilot Mountain, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 8, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Needham was born March 11, 1940, in Alexander County, the daughter of the late Troy and Hazel Finncannon Gwaltney. A woman of quiet strength and enduring work ethic, she dedicated many years of her life to the textile industry, concluding her career at Gitman Brothers Tie Company. She took great pride in her work and in the friendships she formed along the way. Connie was a faithful member of New Hope United Methodist Church, where she loved worshipping with her church family and serving wherever needed. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and her gentle example touched many hearts. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bobby Joe Needham; a daughter, Jennifer Woodie; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Britta Needham; four granddaughters, Brittany Tomlin (Toby), Meagan May (Mike), Jenna Vass (Grayson), and Hunter Woodie (Aayush Jain); seven great-grandchildren, Bransen Tomlin, Austen Tomlin, Camden Tomlin, Sawyer May, Reagan May, Oakley Vass, and Blakeley Vass; and a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Beverly Gwaltney. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM at New Hope United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Fried and the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 442 Armstrong Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
