Mr. John Cornelius Stovall, age 84 of Patrick Springs passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection in Stuart. He was born on May 8, 1930 in Patrick County to the late John Hardin Stovall and Mollie Cockram Stovall. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph A. Stovall, Jim Stovall; and a sister, Era Stovall. Cornelius had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; had been on the Patrick County Board of Supervisors for 20 years; served on the Board of Directors for First National Bank of Stuart; and had served on various other boards throughout Patrick County.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Nancy Gray Stovall of the home; one son, Bradley Stovall; one daughter, Lisa Stovall both of Patrick Springs; one brother and sister in law, K. Glenn and Cindy Stovall of Patrick Springs; one sister and brother in law, Alberta and Ralph Shelton of Ferrum; sister in law, Jean Stovall of Patrick Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014 at 2 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
