Curtis Dale Simpson, 81, of Dobson, North Carolina passed away at his home June 8, 2026. He was born in Surry County on May 15, 1945, to the late James H. “Jim” and Annie Tucker Simpson. He graduated from Surry Central High School in 1963 and married the love of his life later that same year. Curtis was employed with the Norfolk and Southern Railway for over 40 years where he developed some long-term friendships. He was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church and served as a deacon for as long as his health would allow. He lived a life guided by kindness, integrity and compassion. He often said that he simply wanted to be remembered as a good man, and those who knew him would agree that he achieved just that. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Robbie White of Pilot Mountain, NC, and Tracy and Lewie Lindsey of Pearisburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Garrett Samuel Bullard, Logan Elizabeth Lynch (Josiah), Breigh Ann Lindsey, and Tucker Benjamin Lindsey; childhood friend, Folger Hamlin; and special friend who he considered a brother, Steve Pratt. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Linda Frances Simpson; a grandson, Jacob Chance Beck; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Maggie Simpson and Mitchell and Lynda Simpson. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. A funeral service will take place Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alton Bledsoe and Rev. Jeff Wall officiating. Burial will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Rockford Road Community for all the care, visits and companionship they provided to Curtis following Linda’s passing and his declining health. They would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Deborah Pendergrass, whose unwavering friendship, compassion, and dedicated care brought comfort and support, not only to Curtis, but to the entire family. Flowers will be accepted and/or donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at P.O. Box 325, Dobson, NC 27017.
