Cynthia Gail Draughn Chattin

Ms. Cynthia Gail “Cindy” Draughn Chattin, 47, of Pilot Mountain, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Monday morning, January 12, 2015, at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, following a long and courageous battle with scleroderma. Ms. Chattin was born March 22, 1967, in Guilford County, one of four daughters born to the late Wesley Junior and Minnie Mae Hodges Draughn. Cynthia graduated from North Surry High School in 1985, Northern Hospital School of Medical Technology in 1990, and Surry Community College in 1992. She worked as a medical technologist for many years at Hoots Memorial Hospital, LabCorp, and Easter Seals. She is survived by two children, Jacob Porter Chattin and Allison Noelle Chattin, both of Pilot Mountain; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Larry Danley and Patricia and Craig Lawson, all of Mount Airy, and Debbie and Tim Holmes of Yadkinville; several nieces and nephews, Paul and DeAnne Danley, Lucas and Mandi Danley, and Wesley and Cathryn Lawson, all of Mount Airy, and Audra and Tyler Chilton of Ararat; several great nieces and nephews, Will Danley, Jaxson Danley, Mae Danley, JonLucas Danley, Amelia Chilton, and Alaina Lawson; and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Ms. Chattin was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Coley Walter and Dixie Ella Whitt Hodges; and her paternal grandparents, Dan Wesley and Sadie Anne Robertson Draughn. A service of worship and celebration of Cynthia’s life will be held Friday, January 16, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Patricia and Craig Lawson, 140 Greystone Lane, Mount Airy.
