Daisy Nichols Simmons

Mrs. Daisy Nichols Simmons, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 22, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Simmons was born May 7, 1930, in Surry County, to the late George Stanley and Jessie Davis Nichols. She retired from Surry County Schools and was a member of White Plains Friends Meeting. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lu Ann and Mike Loy of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter Stanley and Pam Simmons of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Maddie Loy of Mount Airy, Sierra Simmons of Raleigh, and Yancey Simmons of Mount Airy; and two nieces, Georgianna Nichols and Nanette Shook, both of St. Petersburg, FL. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Perce Simmons; and two sisters, Georgia Nichols Eddins and Nan Nichols Davis. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 25, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery, with Mr. Bracky Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends Monday at the cemetery from 10:30 until 11:00 AM. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
