Danny Ray Childress

Mr. Danny Ray Childress, 47, of 354 Maple Grove Church Road, Mount Airy, passed away early Monday morning, April 21, 2014, at his home. Mr. Childress was born March 22, 1967, in Forsyth County, to Billy Childress and Linda Jean McCormick Childress Poff. Danny was an automotive mechanic at Poff's Garage. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Linda and Ronnie Poff of Mount Airy; his father, Billy Childress of Mount Airy; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Tommy and Mavis Childress of Ararat, VA, and Johnny Childress of King; and a stepbrother, Chris Poff of Mount Airy. Mr. Childress was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Jean Childress Oakley. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Baptist Church, with the Rev. Butch Holder and the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
