Mr. Danny Dean Martin, age 76, of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Martin was born on June 3, 1945, in Surry County to the late Walter Lee and Fannie Bowman Martin. Danny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Danny was a faithful member of the Mount Airy Church of God where he served for 42 years. During this time, he served as a Trustee, Sunday School teacher, Pastor Council Member, on the Praise and Worship Team, Youth Leader, and a mentor to many. Danny worked 36 years at Proctor-Silex and then later retired from NC Granite Corp. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 54 years, Linda Johnson Martin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dina Martin Hiatt and Jerry, Lee Anne Martin Eads and Chris; grandchildren, Levi and Bailey Hiatt, Leah and Dakota York, Lexi and Tyler Bounds, and Madi Hiatt; sisters, Ima Lee Booker, Reba Livengood; brother and sister-in-law, Walter Lee Martin, Jr. and Linda; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Harrelson; and a brother, H.O. Martin. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 3:00 PM at Mount Airy Church of God in Mount Airy with Pastor Charles Powers and Reverend Don Whichard officiating. Burial will follow in the Blues Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Mount Airy. Mr. Martin will lie-in-state on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at the Mount Airy Church of God in Mount Airy from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
