Danny Leron "Ron" Smith

Mr. Danny Leron “Ron” Smith, 73, of Lowgap, NC, passed away on Monday morning, August 30, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born in Surry County on January 20, 1949, to the late Jasper Thomas Smith and Helen Elizabeth Isaacs Smith.  Ron proudly served our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  He was also retired from Westinghouse after many years of service.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 27 years, Shirley Ann Monday Smith; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Sherry Monday, and Joshua S. Haley; four grandchildren, Brianna and Jason Martin, Caitlin and CJ Williams, Grace Haley, and Natalie Haley; three great-grandchildren, Brileigh Martin, Jolie Martin, and Colten Williams; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Dennis Michael Smith and Stephen Thomas and Anita Smith; a brother-in-law, Clarence and Stacie Monday; and by a nephew, Chad Monday; niece, Susan Michele Smith.  In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dennis Monday and a niece, Lauren Monday.  Funeral services for Ron will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 2:00PM at Genesis Full Gospel Church with Rev. Tom Slate and Mr. Clarence Monday officiating.  Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Smith family.
