Obituary

Mrs. Darlene Patricia Norman Shoffner, age 86 of Pilot Mountain, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Dunmore Plantation in Dobson. Mrs. Shoffner was born on April 26, 1940, in Surry County to the late Clarence Dewey and Hallie Mae Chilton Norman. Darlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She served as the public librarian for the Town of Pilot Mountain for many years. Mrs. Shoffner will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Stanford Moody Shoffner and LeAnne; two grandchildren, Nicholas Moody Shoffner, Kenzie Lee Shoffner; and a brother, Mike Norman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shoffner was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, P.M. Shoffner; and a brother, D.L. Norman. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain with Reverend Jeremy Pegram officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Pilot Mountain from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
