David Lee Buchanan

David Lee Buchanan, age 65 of Mt. Airy, passed away on Saturday March 21, 2026 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on April 3, 1960 in Clintwood Va. to the late Billy Lee Buchanan and Emma Jean Childress Buchanan. He was a coal miner, mechanic, carpenter, pretty much a Jack of all trades. He is survived by his wife Pamela Smith Buchanan of Mt. Airy; daughter and son in law Amanda Buchanan (Jarel Duncan) of Statesville, daughter April Buchanan of Winston Salem; sisters, Leila Compton of Mt. Airy, Debbie (Dan) Ervin of Great Falls Va; brother, Darryl (Kim) Buchanan of Orlando FL; brothers in law, Orville Jr. Smith, Fulce “Fuzzy” Smith (Jamie) of Mt. Airy, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Ray Buchanan. Per Mr. Buchanan’s request there will be no formal services held at this time but his remains will be buried in the family cemetery in Clintwood Va. at a later date. The family would like to thank Hospice for their generosity and support during this difficult time.
