David John Carfora

Mr. David John Carfora, 30, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 18, 2023.  Mr. Carfora was born May 14, 1993, in Suffolk County, NY, to James F. Carfora and Dawn L. Carfora.  David served our country in the United States Marine Corps for eight years.  He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 2019.  David worked as a field service technician at Smith and Jennings Grading Company.  He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Furr Carfora; a daughter, Victoria Hill (13); a son, David John Carfora, Jr. (5); his mother, Dawn L. Carfora; his father and stepmother, James F. and Beth Carfora; a sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Nicholas Lacerenza; a brother and sister-in-law, James R. and Jennifer Carfora; his grandparents, Carol Carfora and Virginia and Charles Pitts; Kimberly’s family, Jerry Furr, II and Lauren Furr, Lisa Mason, Jerry Furr, III and Caitlin Furr, Mary Furr and Brent Ocegueda, Matthew Mason, Kinlyn Furr, and Peyton Furr; and his godfather, David R. Fiol.  A service of worship and celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Mount Airy Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Eric Smith officiating.  At the conclusion of the service, military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard.  No formal visitation will be held; however, the family will greet friends immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Surry County Veterans Council – Veterans in Distress Fund, ATTN:  Kevin D.
