Mr. David Alexander Hepler, 88, of Mount Airy went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Thomasville, North Carolina, on December 8, 1930. Mr. Hepler served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He earned a Korean Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. He spent more than 40 years working in the veneer business as plant supervisor for High Point Face Veneer and Pruitt Wood Products, both in High Point, North Carolina. In 1951, he married Rachel Jane Crotts. If he had lived one more week, they would have been married for 68 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Hepler, and by a daughter, Debra Jane Hepler Utz. He is survived by a daughter, Marsha Hepler Stetler (David), and a son, Mike Hepler. Grandchildren include Amberly Utz Karpinsky (Cory) of British Columbia, Canada; Brent Stetler (Denisa) of Frankfort, Indiana; Kendall Stetler (Sherri) of Liberty, South Carolina; Kelly Stetler of Hobe Sound, Florida; Benjamin Stetler (Stacey) of Hobe Sound, Florida; Alisha Stetler of Mount Airy, North Carolina; and Sabrina Hepler Varner (Chris) of Trinity, North Carolina. Great grandchildren include Levi Stetler, Haley Varner, Madison Varner and Brian Varner. There is a host of extended relatives and friends. Some very special friends are Ralph and Peggy Carter of Greensboro, North Carolina. David Hepler’s life was totally changed when he was born again in his early twenties. This miraculous change gave him a consistent life of heartfelt faith. He was known for being a man of prayer and faithfulness. Those who knew him best were deeply impacted by his love for Jesus and others. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints! The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy, North Carolina, at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Rev. David Spivey will officiate. Revs. Keith Ledford, Randall Crotts, and David Stetler will also be sharing church, family, and home memories. Burial will be in the cemetery of Haven of Rest Bible Church in Galax, Virginia. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Hope International Mission, P.O.
