David Martin Huffman

January 23, 1961 – October 12, 2025

David Martin Huffman, 64, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2025. Born on January 23, 1961, at Fort Ord Army Base in Salinas, California, David was the son of the late Clara Dell McCann Huffman and Kenneth Eugene Huffman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Tammy “Dell” Huffman and nephews Joshua Corder and Jeremiah “Bam-Bam” Baker.

Left to carry on his legacy are his devoted wife, Lynn Huffman of Mount Airy; his brother Stuart Lee (Denise) Huffman; his children Jessica (Joe) Harpe and Greyson (Marissa) Inscore; his grandchildren Wyatt and Zoey Harpe and Lucas Inscore; nieces Whitney (Clay) Chilton, Jena Caudle; great-nieces and nephews Lennon, Presley, Indie, and Phoebe Chilton; Taylor Sierra, Dakota, and Aspen Caudle; and Gavin and Parker Corder. David also leaves behind countless friends including his best buddy Larry Hall each of whom could tell a story or two (and probably shouldn’t in polite company).

David was a big man with an even bigger heart. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, never one to pass up the chance for a day in the woods or a night on the Pee Dee River with a rod in hand and a good friend by his side. He was proud to take Greyson on his first hunting trip and delighted to pass his love of the outdoors to his grandson, Wyatt. In recent years, he found joy in helping restore his late nephew’s 1970 F100 Ranger XLT with Greyson a project that blended his love of family, hard work, and a good challenge.

Above all, David cherished his time with Lynn, the love of his life, and their family. He was a proud husband, father, “Pawpaw”, brother, and friend. Those who knew him will remember his quick wit, gentle humor, and the way he made everyone feel at home.

The family will hold a private gathering to celebrate David’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, take someone you love fishing, hunting, or just sit a while and tell a good story in his honor.

Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
