David Ray Morris

Mr. David Ray Morris, age 74, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday evening, July 24, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Morris was born May 11, 1952, in Carroll County, Virginia, to the late Billy Ray and Ima Cox Morris. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mr. Morris worked many years as department manager at Walmart. Left to cherish his memories are his son and daughter-in-law, Dave Morris and Sarah; daughter and son-in-law, Christina Jeanes and Tim; grandchildren, Xavier Morris, Olexa Morris, Natalie Ferguson, Nathan Ferguson, Lakien Jeanes; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norma Cockerham, Cathy Snow and Phillip, Marie Morris and Terry Fisher, Mary Fultz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Morris and Ressie, Bobby Morris and Gail; brother-in-law, Lavin Puckett; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Tammy Puckett, Susan Stanley, Crystal Danner, Jamie Richards, Tracie Bowman, Jett Bowman, Crystal Gwyn, Teresa Morris, and the many friends of Garden Terrace. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard Ferguson; sisters, Gail Hutchens, Brenda Morris, Susie Puckett. Funeral services to honor Mr. Morris’s life will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, with Brother Billy Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM until time of the service. Also, family will receive friends at Cathy Snow’s home 181 Friendly Lane, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for all the care and compassion shown.
