Daymond Thompson, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on March 20, 1938, Daymond leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory and the many moments they shared together.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Leona Haymore Thompson.

Daymond is survived by his children, Dale Thompson (Tammy) and Robin Thompson Peavy (Ken); and his grandchildren, Nicholas Peavy (Caitlin), Sydney Anne Peavy, and Mariella Thompson.

He is also survived by his brothers, Grant Thompson (Joann) of Kentucky and Floyd Thompson (Iva) of Pennsylvania; and his sister, Evie Thompson Shambley of Virginia. He will also be lovingly remembered by his 11 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Daymond is preceded in death by three infant sons, Mitchell, Timothy, and Jerry Thompson; his parents, Amos Maxwell Thompson and Lillie Mae Bowman Thompson; two sisters, Kathleen Fain and Lucille White; and a brother, David Maxwell Thompson.

His family will remember him with love and gratitude for the life he shared with them. His memory will live on through his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, and all those whose lives he touched.

A private graveside service will be held at Indian Grove Family Cemetery. No formal visitation will be held.

Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
