Debbie Lynn Willis Spence

Mrs. Debbie Lynn Willis Spence, 58, of Ararat, VA, passed away early Saturday morning, December 30, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Spence was born June 9, 1965, in Surry County, to Blanche Boyd Willis and the late Maston Stuart Willis.  Debbie grew up in Ararat, VA, and graduated from Patrick County High School in 1983.  She worked as an accountant at Renfro Corporation for many years.  She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Allan “Poochie” Spence; a daughter, Ashley Stuart Frith and her husband, Jacob; a son, Colby Allan Spence; four grandchildren, Brittany Grace Anderson, William Drake Anderson, Avery Rose Frith, and Mazey Lynn Spence; her mother, Blanche Boyd Willis; a sister, Tammy Marie Willis; her mother-in-law, Katherine Nester Thorpe and her husband, Michael; and many, special friends who supported Debbie throughout her sickness.  In addition to her father, Mrs. Spence was preceded in death by a niece, Brittany Nicole Hiatt.  A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Willis Gap Baptist Church, with the Rev. Josh Jenkins and the Rev. Jimmy McCraw officiating.  The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Surry Cancer Awareness Team, c/o Judy Smith, 201 Bluff Street, Mount Airy, NC  27030; or the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
