Dee Lee Shinault

Mr. Dee Lee Shinault, 79, of 157 Gravely Street, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, May 9, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Shinault was born April 15, 1936, in Surry County, one of eight children born to the late James and Gracie Doby Shinault. Dee retired from Leonard Aluminum Utility Building Inc. and was a member of Bear Trail Baptist Church. He is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Glenda and Jimmy Slate, Brenda Lee Morris, and Donna Dee Payne, all of Mount Airy; a son and two daughters-in-law, Rickey and Angie Shinault and Linda King Dowell, all of Mount Airy; ten grandchildren, Debbie Flippen, Michael Flippen, Daniel Edwards, Jesse Hayes, Dusty Slate, Hallie Crotts, Kenny Dowell, Kathy Hunt, Katie Simmons, and Kasey McHone; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Herman Shinault, Tom and Ella Shinault, Mack and Judy Shinault, and Ralph "Buddy" Shinault, all of Mount Airy; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shinault was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Deatherage Shinault; a daughter, Brenda Faye Edwards; a son, Larry Edward "Buster" Dowell; a sister, Virginia "Jennie" Shinault Mayes; and two brothers, Wesley Shinault and Marvin Shinault. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Timmy Crotts officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Hollow Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
