Dennis Larry Martin

Mr. Dennis Larry Martin, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday evening, March 2, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Martin was born August 12, 1941, in Surry County, to Wilma Harvey Sutphin and the late Leroy Martin. Dennis proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as senior master sergeant on September 29, 1978. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Steve Srch of Grovetown, GA; two sons, Gregory Martin and Owen Martin, both of Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother, Wilma Harvey Sutphin of Mount Airy; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda and Don Cannoy and Misty and Danny Collins, all of Mount Airy, and Carol Williams of Yadkinville; and a brother and sister-in-law, James and Peggy Martin of Mount Airy. In addition to his father, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a brother, John McHone. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is in charge of the cremation. There are no local services planned.
