Destiny Diane Bottoms, 29, of Mount Airy, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, surrounded by love.
Destiny was born on May 3, 1996, in Forsyth County, the daughter of Jerry Leroy Bottoms and Monique Roxanne Faw.
Destiny was a fiercely devoted mother to her two sons, Eli Stratton McBride and Abel Jeffrey McBride, loving each of them deeply and unconditionally from the very beginning. Every decision Destiny made was rooted in love and her desire for her children to have full, meaningful lives. That same calling extended beyond her home, as she devoted herself to helping others create better lives for themselves and their children. Through her compassion, service, and obedience to God’s call, Destiny embodied what it meant to be the hands and feet of Jesus to so many.
With deep love for her church family at Orchard View Community Church, Destiny loved Jesus beyond measure and lived out her faith daily. Her church family was an important part of her life, and her faith was evident in the way she served, loved, and encouraged others. Through Orchard View Community Church and beyond, Destiny answered God’s call to love people well, walking alongside others through both joy and hardship.
Destiny openly shared her personal testimony in hopes of providing encouragement and hope to those who are often overlooked and underserved. She believed deeply that everyone mattered; everyone was loved, and everyone was worthy of second chances – even when others felt they did not deserve them. During her time working in the school system and at The Shepherd’s House, Destiny shared her redemption story with countless individuals, making it her heart’s mission to help those facing challenges learn life-sustaining skills so they could become productive members of the community. She was a light in a dark world, and her unwavering faith in God’s mercy and grace gave hope to so many.
Though her life was not always easy, Destiny carried herself with strength and resilience, choosing grace and hope even in life’s hardest seasons.
Destiny was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Diane Warden Bottoms and Teresa “Terri” Anna Faw; and her special uncle, Teddy Ray Bottoms.
In addition to her two sons and parents, Destiny is survived by her loving boyfriend, Austin Moxley; two brothers, Jeremy Ray Bottoms and Cody Steven Bottoms; a half-brother, Travis Blake Hicks; her grandfather, Steven Faw; along with cousins, aunts, uncle, and many, many, many friends whose lives were deeply touched by her kindness.
Destiny’s life, though far too short, was filled with purpose, faith, love, and service to others. Her legacy will live on through her children, her church family, and the countless hearts she leaves behind.
A service of worship and celebration of Destiny’s life will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Corey Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 until 2:00 PM.
