Diane Poteat Edwards

Mrs. Diane Poteat Edwards, 61, of Mount Airy, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Greensboro. Mrs. Edwards was born September 29, 1952, in Pike County, KY, the daughter of the late William Calloway and Elizabeth Flannery Poteat. Diane was an amazing woman, a loving wife, a fabulous mother, and a doting grandmother. She is survived by her husband, James Edwards of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Christopher Oswald of Greensboro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Russell and Leigh Edwards of Hope Mills and Stephen Edwards of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren, Annelise Diana Oswald and Caroline Victoria Oswald, both of Greensboro, and Haley Elizabeth Edwards of Hope Mills; a brother, Alvin Poteat of Mount Airy; four sisters and five brothers-in-law, Mary Alice and Warren Beasley, Wanda Faye and Larry Conner, Brenda Gail and Ronnie Allen, and Ray Bryant, all of Mount Airy, and Shirley Ann and Joseph Ellis Hawks of Matthews; a sister-in-law, Robin Poteat of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Poteat Chandler and Oma Lee Poteat Bryant; and a brother, Richard Poteat. The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Larry Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Grove Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
