D.J. "Dickie" Simmons

Mr. D.J. "Dickie" Simmons, 61, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, at his home. He was born January 30, 1951, in Surry County, to the late Robert Columbus and Annie Ruth Beamer Simmons. He retired from Brown Wooten Manufacturing and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Lauren Simmons of Huntersville and Keith and Katie Simmons of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Dalton, Zach, Abby, and Ella Simmons; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bobbie Jean and Paul Hummell and family of Chocowinity and Brenda Simpson and family of Kannapolis. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a brother, Rickie Simmons. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Scotty Mabe officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
