Don Porter Brannock

Mr. Don Porter Brannock, 91 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday night, October 10, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Brannock was born in Wilkes County on July 6, 1925 to the late Isaac Burton Brannock and Cora Lee Killen Brannock. He was a member of Woodville Baptist Church and was retired from RJR after 33 years of service. Mr. Brannock is survived by his loving wife, June Adams Brannock of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Calvin Floyd of Lexington, and Kathy and Dominick Guarnaccio of Mt. Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Kathy Chapman of Winston Salem; grandchildren and spouses, Tina Moore of Lexington, Michael Moore of Lexington, Tonya Stevens and Jonathan of Mt. Airy, and Matt Gather of King; Lee Floyd of Virginia; and Wendy Wilson of Virginia; fifteen great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren; and a great niece, Angie Floyd and husband Gary. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brannock was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Tipton Brannock; grandchildren, Donna Mullis, David Chapman, and Jimmy Todd; three sisters; seven brothers; and a son-in-law, James Todd. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with speakers, Bill Wight and Jeremy Underwood officiating with burial to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care of Pilot Mountain, 129 Veterans Drive, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to nurse Susan for all of the love and care shown to Mr. Brannock during his sickness.
