Mr. Donald Franklin Tickle, 66, of 695 McKinney Road, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Tickle was born December 1, 1939, in Surry County, to the late Frank Howard and Lillie Betty Beasley Tickle. Mr. Tickle served our country in the United States Army following the Korean Conflict. He was the maintenance supervisor at Perry Manufacturing for many years and attended Union Hill Friends Meeting. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eva Joy Caudle Tickle of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight Franklin and Maria Tickle and Charles "Chuck" William and Stephanie Tickle, all of Mount Airy; five grandchildren, Felicia Tickle, Neil Tickle, Madison Tickle, Taylor Tickle, and Ian Michael Tickle, all of Mount Airy; two stepgrandchildren, Lucas McBride and Justice McBride, both of Mount Airy; and a brother, Oliver Tickle of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Union Hill Friends Meeting. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald Thomas, and burial will be in the Union Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Union Hill Friends Meeting. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Union Hill Friends Meeting Building Fund, 2315 Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Northern Hospital of Surry County for the care and kindness shown to Donald during his illness.
