Doris Johnson Dickens

Mrs. Doris Johnson Dickens, “Mama Dorise”, of Lowgap, NC passed away peacefully early Friday morning, December 30, 2022, at the age of 99. She was born February 19, 1923, to the late Elmer Johnson and Mamie Marie Thompson Johnson. Doris was a lovingly devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was a strong, supportive motherly figure in the eyes of her family members. She was a loving caregiver to her mother, father, and brother. She helped raise her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She enjoyed making memories with them by taking them on exciting adventures and sharing stories of the many changes she saw throughout her life. Doris had one of the most resilient, loving, and caring souls of anyone you could ever meet and will be greatly missed by her loved ones. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and loved the Lord.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and caregiver Nancy Dickens Bartley and her husband Virgil Bartley, and her four beloved grandchildren, Julie Bartley Edwards and her husband Teddy, Justin Bartley and his wife Misti, Brian Dickens, and Aleisha Dickens Cave and her husband Jay. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren including her very special great-granddaughter Madalyn Edwards. Additionally, she is survived by a special niece Rosy Johnson Dunevant, special friend Vickey Todd, and special caregiver Jan Atkins. In addition to her parents, Doris was proceeded in death by her brothers Allen, James, and Earl Johnson, husband Boyd Sabie Dickens, and cherished children Shirley Marie Dickens and Ronald Dale Dickens.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Atkins officiating.  There will not be a formal visitation prior to the service.  Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, P.O.
