Dorothy Bennett Bishop

Mrs. Dorothy Bennett Bishop, 101, passed away gently and peacefully at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC, Tuesday, May 24, 2022.  She was born in Surry County, NC, May 11, 1921, in Long Hill township in Surry County, NC, to the late Dock and Ada Frances Beck Bennett.  Dorothy was a long-time resident of Mount Airy, where she met her husband of 63 years Arthur Bishop, whom the Lord called home in 2003. She and Arthur raised their daughter Carolyn in Mount Airy before relocating to the Charlotte area (Harrisburg, NC) in the 1960's. She spent her sunset years in York, SC, surrounded by the love of her family. She is preceded in death by her late husband Arthur and their daughter Carolyn; surviving are her niece Tamara Carter; four grandchildren; Wesley Pruett, Steve Pruett, Kathy Sandifer and David Pruett; grandson-in-law; Trey Sandifer, granddaughter-in-law; Lian Cui and great grandchildren; Weston, Hayden, Elleigh, Bennett, Alexander, Althea, Grace, Benjamin and Joseph.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 30, 2022, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy.  The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
