Mrs. Dorothy Mae Key Moore, 84, of Ararat, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2011, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 12, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Dock William Augustus and Mollie Ada Reid Key. Mrs. Moore was a retired beautician and a charter member of The Church of Corinth. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Donna and Wayne Swift of State Road, Lisa Harris of Winston-Salem, Eddie and Lisa Moore of Mount Airy, and daughter-in-law Annette Moore of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren, Patrina Moore, Rekenna Moore, Will Moore, Ben Swift, Megan Matthews, Heath Moore, and Nick Moore; five great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Melva Jane Greene and Sylvia Jean Danley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Henry "Sam" Moore; a son, Clarence Randolph "Randy" Moore; a daughter, Beverley Ann "Aunt B" Moore; a sister, Ruby Tennessee Key; and three brothers, Fred Ora Key, Hassel Paul Key, and Barley Chester Key. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Pine Hill Friends Church from 2:00 until the time of the service at 4:00 PM. The service will conducted by the Rev. Tony McCann and the Rev. Clayton Tilley, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to The Church of Corinth, c/o Joyce Norman, 3433 Siloam Road, Ararat, NC 27007 or Pine Hill Friends Church Building Fund, c/o Brenda McKinney, 925 Tom Jones Road, Ararat, NC 27007. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Moore family.
