Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Pike Simmons, 82, of 633 Cleo Cain Road, Pilot Mountain, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. She was born March 24, 1929, in Surry County, to the late Joseph P. and Ida Lou Williams Pike. She was a homemaker and attended Stoney Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, Ramon J. Simmons of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Don Seats of Pilot Mountain and Joey and Bret Kelley of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Caroline Kelley and Jackson Kelley, both of Greensboro, and Kristine Martens and her husband, Luc, of Belgium; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers, John Pike, Wayne Pike, and Grady Pike, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by three sisters, Mae Marshall, Vannie Pike, and Frances Pike; and four brothers, Warren Pike, Roger Pike, Robert Pike, and Stuart Pike. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Justin Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express a special thanks to the skilled nursing staff on third floor at Northern Hospital of Surry County.
