Mrs. Dorothy Virginia Mabe Bowman, age 83 of Ararat, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the SECU Hospice in Yadkinville surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Bowman was born on May 8, 1943, in Patrick County to the late Charlie and Monie Evelyn Bowman Mabe. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Bowman Beck and Lee; granddaughter, Brandy Gammons; two sisters, Ethel Mabe Dishman, Alene Mabe Pell; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, James Elbert Bowman, six sisters, and nine brothers; along with several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Willis Gap Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Collins and Reverend Dana Acker officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Willis Gap Baptist Church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassionate care provided to Mrs. Bowman during her illness.
