Dotty Bruner Chilton

Mrs. Dotty Bruner Chilton Age 68 of Siloam, NC. passed away Tuesday April 24, 2012 at the Joan and Howards Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Chilton was born July 26, 1943 in Surry County to the late John Gray and Lucy Ashburn Bruner. Dotty was a fun and loving woman of God, born and raised in the Siloam Community. She was born into and remained a lifetime member of Pine Hill Friends Church, and graduated from Copeland High School, Class of 1961, and recently attended her 50th Class Reunion. Dotty enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, canning, cooking, gospel music and Duke basketball rivalries! Dotty delighted in the fellowship she shared while working in the East Surry High School Cafeteria. Dotty is survived by her son, David Chilton; brother, Johnny Gray Bruner, Jr (Patsy); sisters, Polly Bruner Pratt (Billy) and Molly Bruner Moore; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceding her death was husband of 42 years, Herbert Hoover Chilton; father, John Gray Bruner; mother, Lucy Ashburn Bruner; and baby sister, Patsy Bruner. Family visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Pine Hill Friends from 6 - 8 pm, with funeral services at the church as well on Thursday, April 26, 2012 beginning at 4pm. Services will be conducted by Pastor Michael Thames and Reverend Clayton Tilley with Vessels of Clay and the Friends Quartet ministering in music. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Friends Meeting Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pine Hill Friends Fellowship Hall Stove Fund, c/o Holly McCraw, 3968 NC Hwy 268, Ararat NC 27007.
