Dr. William J. Johnson

Dr. William "Bill" Joseph Johnson, D.O., age 62 of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015. Dr. Johnson was born in Pittston, PA on February 6, 1953 to William Joseph and Ann Marie McHale Johnson. He attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, PA and served his internship and residency at Delaware Valley Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. Dr. Johnson was in private practice for 16 years before joining Tri-County Orthopedic and Sports Medicine where he specialized in hand surgery. He was a dedicated physician. Bill loved his family and was the best husband, father and grandfather, "He could always make us laugh". He loved cycling and completed the Mountains to the Coast Ride twice. His family and friends are heartbroken. Those who will always cherish his memory are his loving wife, Amy W. Johnson; his wonderful children, Corinne Hassey and husband Matthew, Christian Johnson and his wife Christine and Rylin Johnson; his precious granddaughter, Penelope Hassey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Brian Banas and Rosemond and Dave Kacsur; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Donna Johnson and many dear friends. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home on Monday, April 6th beginning at 9:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at Holy Angels Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Surry Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 981, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
