E. Wayne Pennington

E. Wayne Pennington, 73, of Mount Airy went home to be with the Lord July 19, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. Mr. Pennington was born in Burlington, NC on February 9, 1951. Wayne worked in the packaging and textile business for 53 years. He wed the love of his life, Cindy Easter Pennington on December 31, 1983. Wayne was an avid Duke Blue Devils fan and enjoyed razzing his Carolina loving family and friends when Duke won. Wayne has two sons and daughters-in-laws, Kevin and Stephanie Conner and Chris and Linda Conner. He has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Wayne is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sisters Terresa Kirby and Ivy Hilliard, brother and sister-in-law Rick and Sheila Easter, special friends, Nick and Debbie Jarrell, Bobby Webb; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Curtis and Polly Hilliard, his brother-in-law, Joey Kirby, and parents-in-law, Jimmie and Faye Easter. 

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 23 at 2:00 pm at Moody’s Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Webb and Rev. Richard Loman officiating. The burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Moody’s Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made in Wayne’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
